Good news! Our Students Have been Awarded the "Top Ten Students" of BNU in the 25th Selection

In order to promote the positive spirit of learning and inspire the innovative enthusiasm and enterprising spirit of students, BNU has established the "Top Ten Students" honorary award, aiming to encourage students from BNU to pursue excellence in moral cultivation, academic research, physical exercise, artistic aesthetics, and labor practice, and become outstanding talents with comprehensive development. Since the first "Top Ten Students" selection was launched in 2000, 250 students have won this honor. They wrote their youthful chapters with wisdom and sweated in the academic field, explored unknown boundaries with innovation and courage in science competitions, and built communication bridges with enthusiasm and responsibility in student work. They are not only explorers of knowledge, but also pursuers of dreams, interpreting the exemplary role of "leading by example" through their actions.

On the afternoon of December 5th, the final evaluation ceremony of the 25th "Top Ten Students" of Beijing Normal University was held in the lecture hall on the second floor of the Yingdong Academic Hall. Zhang Yanyun, member of the Standing Committee of the BNU Party Committee and Minister of the Organization Department, as well as representatives of teachers, relevant functional departments, and student representatives from various schools and departments, served as judges. More than 200 students from various schools and departments observed on site. Guo Jincheng, a 2021 undergraduate majoring in Accounting at our university, participated in the selection as a candidate.

During the speech, Guo Jincheng talked about the historic changes in his hometown Lankao County, Henan Province, from being a "national key poverty-stricken county" to achieving poverty alleviation ahead of schedule, and now becoming a "national civilized city", with the theme of "sincerity in heart and sincerity in action". Starting from the spirit of Jiao Yulu, who practices "being close to the people, loving the people, working hard, seeking truth from science, facing difficulties, and selflessly dedicating oneself", he told the story of his growth experience since enrollment, focusing on scientific research, practical experience, dedicating himself to academic work, applying what he has learned, and giving back to his hometown. When it comes to future plans, Guo Jincheng expressed that he will always remember the motto of "governing the country and benefiting the world, promoting business and culture", internalize it in his heart and externalize it in his actions, use knowledge and wisdom to build a close bridge between financial theory and the real economy, and contribute his youthful strength to the construction of a strong country and the rejuvenation of the nation.

During the questioning session, the judges asked about the difference between "excellence oriented" and "role model oriented" approaches. Guo Jincheng, a student, stated that the 20 top ten candidates, the students present, and all students at Normal University are all "1/30000" and independent individuals who shine brightly. Guided by the motto of“Learn, so as to instruct others; Act, to serve as example to all" at BNU, both the schools and departments are committed to cultivating new young people with comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills. Every student takes others as role models and strives for progress. Each student also uses their unique "shining points" as role models to lead others forward.

After two and a half hours of speech and defense, the final evaluation results of the 25th "Top Ten Students" of Beijing Normal University were announced amidst warm applause. Our student Guo Jincheng stood out among twenty candidates and was awarded the honorary title of "Top Ten Students". He expressed that he is deeply honored to receive this honor and understands that it is the result of the support and assistance of countless teachers and classmates behind it. He will use "sincerity in his heart, sincerity in his actions" as a driving force, constantly pursue progress, and grow together with his classmates!
