The 2nd Beijing International Academic Forum on Economics and Management (2024) Was Successfully Held

On the morning of October 18, 2024, the second Beijing International Academic Forum on Economics and Management was successfully held in the main building 1722. A total of 5 Chinese and foreign students participated and engaged in exciting academic exchanges on multiple cutting-edge issues such as inflation, trade and finance, digital economy and agriculture. Associate Professors Yu Jiajie, Xu Lei and Li Yanan from BNUBS were invited to attend, and the forum was chaired by Professor Yu Jiajie.

Firstly, Professor Yu Jiajie made an opening speech and warmly welcomed all the teachers and students present. He pointed out that this forum is the first activity of the "New Sinology Plan" Economic Management Workshop, with the goal of further expanding the academic horizons of international students, enhancing academic exchanges between Chinese and foreign students, and improving the academic level of Chinese and foreign students. The forum encourages interdisciplinary research and exploration of cutting-edge academic ideas. In the future, it will strive to become a brand event of Beijing Management and continue to be committed to building a platform for international talent cultivation and exchange.

In the stage of paper demonstration, Cheng Zhengtao first presented a study titled Dynamic Connectivity and Spillover of Inflation Risk Across the World, which explores the dynamic correlation and spillover effects of global inflation risk. Ms. Xu suggested that he improve the presentation of the PPT and provide a detailed explanation of the methodology section to enhance the comprehensibility of the research. Teacher Li Yanan pointed out the problem of short data usage time span and suggested trying to use monthly data. Teacher Yu Jiajie emphasized the importance of studying robustness and encouraged him to try other machine learning methods for comparison.

With the topic of The impact of trade facilitation of China-Indochina Peninsula economic corridor on Regional Integration, Liu Ziyi analyzed the impact of trade facilitation in the China Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor on regional integration. Ms. Xu suggested that he emphasize the research question more clearly in the literature review and consider using panel or cross-sectional data to enrich the analysis. Teacher Li Yanan emphasized the adequacy of the data sample, while Teacher Yu Jiajie encouraged him to seek innovation in statistical methods and clarify research gaps and unique contributions.

Li Chen shared with everyone the research results of The Effect of Family Population Structure on Allocation of Financial Assets, exploring the impact of family population structure on financial asset allocation. Ms. Xu suggested that she focus more on the core story to enhance her appeal. Teacher Li Yanan pointed out that the research lacks strong theoretical framework support and suggested strengthening the connection between theory and empirical conclusions. Teacher Yu Jiajie expressed concern about the statistical efficacy of the research and suggested clarifying the positioning of the research in existing literature.

Xiong Ding's report,Can digital economy promote urban economic resilience in China? Empirical evidence based on national big data comprehensive pilot zones policy, focuses on whether the digital economy can promote the resilience of China's urban economy. Teacher Xu Yuan pointed out that there are mixed situations in his literature review section and suggested presenting research contributions more objectively. Teacher Li Yanan suggested strengthening theoretical support and clarifying the specific implementation time of policies. Teacher Yu Jiajie encouraged him to explain and discuss the results of mechanism analysis in depth, and conduct heterogeneity analysis and robustness testing.

Finally, Sun Yao explored the relationship between digital agriculture and agricultural carbon emission intensity under the title Digital Agriculture and Agricultural Carbon Emission Intensity: Are There There External Constraints. Teacher Xu Yuan believed that his title is not closely related to the actual analysis content, and suggested delving deeper into the underlying mechanisms and reasons. Teacher Li Yanan suggested considering more external constraints and the specific application of digital technology in agricultural production. Teacher Yu Jiajie encouraged him to build a stronger theoretical framework to support his research.

After heated discussions and in-depth exchanges, the forum came to a successful conclusion. In the end, Cheng Zhengtao and Xiong Ding were awarded the Excellent Paper Award for their brilliant publications. Their research not only demonstrated their profound academic foundation and innovative spirit, but also added new brilliance to the international talent cultivation brand of the School.

This forum not only provides a stage for Chinese and foreign students to showcase their academic achievements, but also builds a bridge for them to have in-depth exchanges with scholars at home and abroad. we believe that in the days to come, these passionate and creative young scholars will continue to forge ahead on the academic path, contributing their own strength to promote global economic and social development. We also look forward to the next Beijing International Academic Forum on Management bringing together more outstanding students and scholars to make greater contributions to promoting academic progress and the development of human civilization.
