In order to speed up the construction of high-quality basic discipline personnel training system, the Ministry of Education held a launching meeting of Basic discipline series "101 Plan" in Peking University on April 19, 2023. Wu Yan, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, Hao Ping, Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University, and relevant leaders of departments of the Ministry of Education and universities attended the meeting. Qi Yudong, Dean of BNUBS, and Xu Minbo, Dean of Department of Economics, were invited to attend the meeting. Qi Yudong delivered a keynote speech at the "101 Plan" of Economics, focusing on the training characteristics and effectiveness of Beijing Normal University's Top Economics Student Training Plan 2.0 base.

The "101 Plan" of the Ministry of Education covers nine fields, including computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, basic medicine, Chinese medicine, economics and philosophy. With Professor Lin Yifu of Peking University as the chief expert, the Economics "101 Plan" adheres to the philosophy of "integrity, high skills, professional excellence, truth seeking and achievement", takes the construction and promotion of independent knowledge system as the primary task, takes the construction of core courses, core teaching materials, core teachers and core practice projects as the core task, and focuses on the construction of the first ten basic core courses in the field of economics. Introduction to Economic Science, one of the basic core courses, is led by Professor Lin Yifu, and co-led by Professor Qi Yudong and other leaders of 20 national Top Economics Students Training Plan 2.0 bases.
