On May 22, 2023, the 112th session of the "BNU Master Lecture" was held in Conference Room 9406, JINGSHI HOTEL. Xie Fusheng, Editor-in-Chief of Renmin University of China Press, Associate Dean of School of Economics of Renmin University of China and Special Professor of Changjiang Scholars, was invited to deliver the lecture. The lecture was presided over by Qi Yudong, Dean of BNUBS. Undergraduate, master's and doctoral students and some faculty were present to listen.

In the lecture, Professor Xie Fusheng took Problem-Oriented Construction of New Development Pattern as the theme. First of all, he focused on the main problems and challenges facing China's economic development at the present stage, combined with Marxist theory and method of capital cycle and economic cycle, and revealed the historical practice and experience and lessons of Western developed countries when they experienced similar development problems. On this basis, the limitations of international circulation and the defects of existing solutions were expounded in detail. Then, Professor Xie Fusheng, based on the problem-oriented methodology and actual national conditions of our country, put forward the importance and urgency of the double cycle led by the internal cycle, and proposed and expounded the possible paths to smooth the domestic great cycle: The first is to use the rural revitalization strategy to expand domestic demand and build a new socialist countryside; The second is to build domestic production network to adapt to the dynamic diversity of demand structure; The third is to break through key core technologies and achieve a high level of self-reliance. Finally, Professor Xie Fusheng pointed out that to build a new development pattern and promote the sustainable development of China's economy, it is necessary to further open up the international cycle and realize the mutual promotion of domestic and international double cycles. He believed that the international and domestic double cycle should be based on the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, by giving full play to the potential of domestic demand, so that the domestic market and the international market can be better connected, and the international and domestic markets and resources can be used to promote economic development more strongly, more sustainably and more safely.

In the exchange session, the participating teachers and students had an in-depth exchange with Professor Xie Fusheng. Professor Xie's patient and meticulous answers gave teachers and students a deeper understanding and inspiration on how to apply Marxist political economy principles and methods to research and solve practical problems and tell good Chinese stories.

Finally, President Qi Yudong made a summary and comments, and expressed his high appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Professor Xie Fusheng for his wonderful lecture.
