The Opening Ceremony of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China opened at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the morning of Oct 16, 2022. This congress is a very important one to be held at a crucial moment when the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups in China are embarking on a new journey towards the second centenary Goal of comprehensively building a modern socialist country. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made a report on behalf of The 19th Central Committee.

　　BNUBS organized teachers and students representatives to watch the opening ceremony in conference rooms 1722 and 1610 in the Rear Main Building. Dean Qi Yudong, Associate Dean Cai Hongbo, Secretary of the Youth League Committee Chang Xinyang and more than 40 student representatives participated in the collective viewing activity. Other teachers and students watch the conference live through TV, Internet, mobile phone client and other forms to learn the spirit of the conference. The Report of the Party's 20th National Congress triggered a warm response among the teachers and students of the School.

Feelings and Thoughts

Since the 19th CPC National Congress, in the face of a complex and grim international environment and arduous tasks of reform, development and stability at home, under the guidance of Xi’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has united and led the whole Party, the armed forces, and the people of all ethnic groups in comprehensively implementing the new vision for development, striving for high-quality development, and actively building a new development pattern. Remarkable achievements have been made in economic and social development. The 20th CPC National Congress is being held at a crucial moment when we are entering a new journey to fully build a modern socialist country. It is a time to scientifically plan and formulate strategic tasks and major measures for the development of the cause of the Party and country in the next five years or even longer. At present, as we begin to fully build a modern socialist country, we must unify our thoughts and actions with the spirit of the conference and the decisions and arrangements of the central committee. We must base ourselves on the work of people's teachers, be inspired by the successful convening of the Party's 20th National Congress, and be inspired by the grand blueprint for future development. We must dedicate into the actual work of talent training and scientific research with more positive work enthusiasm and full mental state.

General Secretary Xi Jinping delivers a report to the 20th National Congress of the Party on behalf of the 19th Central Committee. This report is a programmatic document for starting a new journey. The report comprehensively summarizes and reviews the great achievements of the past five years and the new decade, such as poverty alleviation and the centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and makes important plans for the next five years. The report is the guidance of progress and the call of struggle. It points out the direction of what road we will take, what banner we will hold and how we will go in the future. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his report that the central task from today on is to unite and lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in building a great modern socialist country in an all-round way. What impressed me most was General Secretary Xi Jinping's emphasis on putting the people as the center, that rivers and mountains are the people and the people are rivers and mountains. The people-centered idea was also reflected in the report, such as the need to promote high-quality development and improve people's quality of life. I believe that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, our country will become better and better and our people will live a happier life.

The fifth part of the report mentions implementing the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education and strengthening human resources support for modernization, which gave me the deep feeling that the country's expectations on education, science and technology and talent. Today, I was very excited to come to 1722 to watch the live broadcast of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). I deeply understood the "great changes not seen in a century" and was deeply shocked by the great historical achievements of the motherland and the Party.

The decade since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has been an extraordinary decade. In this short decade, we have experienced three major events: the centenary of the Communist Party of China; the entering of a new era of Socialism with Chinese characteristics; the finishing of poverty alleviation and building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and achieving of the first centenary Goal. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, we have scored a historic victory that will go down in history.

In the face of the sudden outbreak, we put people first and life first, and made remarkable progress in our response to the epidemic through dynamic elimination. With regard to the situation in Hong Kong, we have exercised comprehensive jurisdiction over the SAR in accordance with the Constitution and the Basic Law, thus transforming Hong Kong from chaos to governance. On the situation in Taiwan, in the face of serious provocations, we have resolutely fought against separatism and interference. In the face of the international situation, we have maintained strategic focus, carried forward the spirit of struggle and seized the initiative of development. At the same time, we adhere to Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of Three Represents, Scientific Outlook on Development, Xi’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and has withstood the tests of politics, economy, ideology and nature. In addition, we are determined to fight corruption and would rather let down millions of people than 1.4 billion people.

We have also made remarkable achievements in political, economic, social, scientific, technological, cultural and environmental development, forming a new pattern of development. Since 2021, China's GNP has accounted for 18.5 percent of the global economy, and its per capita GNP has reached 81,000 RMB yuan. China has the largest foreign exchange reserve in the world. China has made major breakthroughs in advanced science and technology, and has become a country of innovation. Year by year, the sky is bluer and the water clearer.

This has once again proved the correctness and leadership of the CPC. Only when the Party gives full play to its core strength of leadership with overall vision can it lead the people to create a better life. Rivers and mountains are people, and people are rivers and mountains. What the Communist Party of China guards is the people's heart.

As young people in the new era, politically, we should actively support the leadership of the Party, follow its advice and follow its lead, and take an interest in family, state and international affairs. In terms of culture, we need to tell China's stories well, spread China's voice well, present a credible, respectable and lovely image of China, and promote Chinese culture to the world.
