On the afternoon of September 9, the opening ceremony of the 2022 undergraduate, master and doctoral freshmen of BNUBS was held simultaneously in the Haidian campus and Changping campus. According to the requirements of epidemic prevention, the ceremony was held in three separate venues in the Haidian Campus and Changping Campus. Students who have not yet registered due to the epidemic and some parents' representatives attended the ceremony online. The opening ceremony was attended by Party and government leaders of the School, heads of departments and other internal institutions, counselors and class teachers, teachers' representatives and all freshmen of Grade 2022. The ceremony was presided over by Sun Zhijun, Party secretary of the School.

On behalf of all the teachers and students of the School, Dean Qi Yudong expressed his sincere congratulations and warm welcome to the freshmen. Qi said that entering BNU on the occasion of its 120th anniversary will surely leave a special memory in the hearts of students. He started with the classic exposition of Marx and Confucius on career planning and academic planning, and taught the freshmen the meaning, goal and path of academic planning. He also encouraged students to engage a through development of all-round ability in areas such as morals, intelligence, physical fitness, work and aesthetics and combine their professional development with their mental model. Through the learning and experience of the "three classes", they pay attention to the cultivation and accumulation of the "Five Quotient)" and "Five Yuan". Only by adhering to the motto of "Learning to be a teacher, behaving like the world" in their daily life, can they achieve the goal of “Promoting business and culture to serve the nation and the world through creating knowledge and educating talents” and strive to be an "eternal master" like Confucius and Socrates.

Wei Hao, Dean of the Department of International Economics and Trade, spoke as a faculty representative. He said that against the background of "profound changes not seen in a century" and the multiple uncertainties in the post-COVID-19 era, higher requirements have been put forward for students to accumulate knowledge and develop skills in college. He hoped the students can feel the history and cultural temperament of Beijing Normal University, remember the motto of the university, do not waste the learning time. It is also hoped that students can constantly strengthen themselves to cope with the uncertainties of the world and society, make plans for the development direction of different stages, seize opportunities, consult the teacher, make down to earth efforts while having a lofty dream, and have a regretless life.

Zhu Yuzi, a 2019 undergraduate majoring in finance, spoke as a representative of senior undergraduate students. She shared Hesse's "We come from the same abyss, yet each is rushing to his own destination", inspiring new students to try, to discover, to find their own path to the rise of the red sun, Taleb's "It is much easier and faster to destroy than to create", inspiring new students to choose a path of youth without regret; Nakajima Dun's "jade and rubble" mystery, inspiring the freshmen to believe in themselves, persist in efforts, which will eventually become a treasure under the polishing of the university's economic management, and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s “Only when you aim high can you reach high and look far, and only when you have the world in mind can you make great achievements", encouraging new students to have the vigor of youth and the spirit of effort.

Zhang Ni, a graduate student of the class of 2021, shared her feelings as a representative of senior graduates. She tells new students that a master's degree is more like a self-cultivation process, requiring them to find their way through self-discipline, confidence and conscious self-pursuit. BNUBS not only works both ways with the freshmen who are aspiring to be a scientist, but also provides a colorful second class for the freshmen with diversified development. As a witness to the 120th anniversary of Normal University, freshmen should dare to dream big and face the future with the best attitude.

Xiao Huijie, majoring in Economics, spoke as the representative of the undergraduate freshmen. He expressed his pride in becoming a student in BNUBS. He shared his understanding of the school motto of "Learn to be a teacher and behave like the world". Every new student has the responsibility to continue learning for the past, and is a inheritor of knowledge and the torch of The Times. He called on the new students to shoulder the mission of Promoting business and culture to serve the nation and the world through creating knowledge and educating talents to work hard for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through concrete actions.

Huang Jingya, a graduate student of the class of 2022, spoke as the representative of the new graduate students. She looks into abstruse features such as, "Maintain the stamina of the study, look into abstruse features, look into abstruse features", "maintain the vitality of the practice, move forward and abstruse itself", "Maintain the courage of the challenge, vertigo forward, risking the wind and waves" to call upon students to bear in mind the wisdom passed on to young people by General Secretary Xi Jinping, and to strive for a better future.
