Notes: Due to the large number of universities and disciplines covered by the ratings, only A (including A+, A and A-) disciplines in mainland Chinese universities are listed. The results are displayed alphabetically.

As one of the three major rankings in the world, the Times Higher Education China Subject Ratings, published by The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE), is the only subject performance assessment based on the discipline classification of China's Ministry of Education, with its global peers as reference.The ratings measures all the core missions of research-intensive universities, including teaching, research, international perspective and knowledge transfer. It provides the most comprehensive and balanced comparison based on 11 carefully calibrated performance indicators so it is broadly trusted by students, academics, university leaders, the education sector and government. The 2022 ratings cover 91 Chinese mainland universities and 1,543 other global universities, and by using the subject classification established by China's Ministry of Education, it compares the performance of universities in 82 subjects by giving them ratings from A+ to C–, which is broader than any other existing major rankings.
