Welcoming the Winter Olympics, students in BNUBS take an active part in volunteer work. On February 20, 2022, with the grand closing ceremony of the 24th Winter Olympic Games at the National Stadium, a total of 22 students from BNUBS have successfully fulfilled their volunteer work for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Among the volunteers, there are 17 undergraduates, 4 master students and 1 student affairs assistant. All of them work in the National Speed Skating Oval, covering various business areas such as anti-doping, catering, epidemic prevention, volunteers, media operation and competition service. In the past semester, all student volunteers completed the general training of 23 compulsory courses on IKM, received professional training of their respective positions, and passed the examination smoothly. With a high degree of responsibility, students have provided excellent service to ensure the smooth operation of the Winter Olympic Games, and showed the world the great spirit of BNUBS in this great event of China and the world.

In order to provide a good environment for the students to engage in volunteer work with full enthusiasm, BNUBS has been catering to the students’ needs and ensuring that they can devote to the volunteer work with all their heart. Before the volunteers' departure,BNUBS held a teacher-student forum, in which the School leaders asked for their study, living arrangement and the destination of graduates, and expressed that the School's educational administration department and the class committee would properly help them arrange courses and other matters, so as to solve the academic difficulties of volunteers of different grades. The School also provided daily necessities such as washing cups and traveling bags for each volunteer, coordinated with counselors, tutors, head teachers, class cadres and roommates to ensure students’ needs in online learning, mental health consultation, employment and educational requirements. By doing these, we make sure that students’ needs can be properly satisfied, which is in line with the requirements of BNU. After the arrival of the student volunteers, Cheng Jianping, Secretary of the Party Committee of BNU, led a delegation to visit the volunteers of the Winter Olympics in Changping Campus, and investigated the epidemic prevention and control and service guarantee work on campus during the Winter Olympics. He also encouraged student volunteers to bear in mind the motto of "Learn to be teachers and behave like an example of the world" and carry on the fine traditions of the Alma mater. BNU would also allocate resources to meet the needs of volunteers and contribute to the success of the Winter Olympics.

 

 

The Teacher-student Forum of BNUBS

 

Since January 23, Volunteers for the Winter Olympics have gradually started their work. At the same time, the Temporary Party Branch of BNUBS has also carried out a series of work.In the "Winter Olympics Duty student" activity, the on-duty volunteer of the day would introduce himself or herself, broadcast daily basic information and epidemic prevention alerts, and share songs, videos and funny stories of the day in the Wechat group, which has promoted the emotional exchange of students, but also kept the vigilance of epidemic prevention. On the day of the closing ceremony, the Temporary Party Branch of BNUBS held an online organizing meeting with more than 30 volunteers. First, the volunteers watched the closing ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games online, and then they studied the congratulatory messages sent by the CPC Central Committee and The State Council to the Chinese sports delegation for the 24th Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

Volunteers in Anti-doping

Zhao Jialiang:

As a volunteer in the field of anti-doping, there are so much to be cherished this winter.

 

Despite the fact that we had a lot of repeated rehearsals before taking the job, and carefully set up plans for every possible special situation, I still get a little nervous every time I go out on a mission. This is because every time we are on duty, it is one volunteer for one athlete only and there are a lot of details and possible emergencies in the whole process. We feel a sense of responsibility and hope to show the world's top athletes that our Chinese volunteers are professional, meticulous, warm and polite so every successful mission makes us genuinely happy. 

 

Passion and dreams, tears and touching, shouts and hugs, every minute in the stadium has condensed into our common beautiful memories. This unforgettable memory not only belongs to me but all of us. The winter of Beijing 2022 melts into our hearts together with the dancing snowflakes.

 

Among the many unforgettable days and nights, the one that moved me the most was the day when Gao Tingyu, a Chinese athlete, won the first gold medal in men's speed skating at the Winter Olympics for our country.

 

He came out in group 7 and took a big lead from the start, sprinted across the line and broke the Olympic record! Returning to his seat in the center of the court to rest, he remained calm, keeping his eyes on the action on the ice and the scores on the big screen. With the continue of the competition, Gao Tingyu's name always remained the first position and we prayed and prayed for his success. Then with the completion of the last group of athletes, it was settled then: The champion is Gao Tingyu! He jumped to his feet, and hugged the coach, teammates excitedly, we also excited cheered for him: we are the champion, China is the champion! 

 

He draped himself in the national flag and ran on theIce Ribbon as the stadium played "Five-star Red Flag, you are my pride!". All the Chinese people sang loudly. At that moment, tears of excitement welled up in my eyes. It's my honor to witness the success. 

 

The memory of the Winter Olympics made up of the hard work and sweat of every athlete, the beginning and end of every task, and the laughter and laughter of every friend will be engraved in my heart forever.

 

 

 

E Meihe:

 

As a doping control escort, the practice of the process is carried out slowly like gear rotation, and the notification procedure must be precise, prudent and decent, with no tolerance of carelessness. Being with the people who directly deals with athletes from all over the world, we represent the image of contemporary Chinese volunteers. Every time I go out on a mission, I will unconsciously straighten my back, try to be self-possessed and calm, professional and friendly, and silently warn myself that I should be a professional volunteer!

 

If you ask me what I cherished most in the Winter Olympic Games, I would say it is the misty sleepy eyes in the countless morning and night in the commuter car; the scene of celebrating New Year's eve far away from home with friends and family; the bright crescent moon slanting in the sky after a mission ended in the early morning; the smile of the little Dutch sister who was accompanying me and waited for me slowly; the excitement when Gao Tingyu won the championship and the record breaking of all the athletes with unyielding spirits. These pictures are interwoven and engraved in my heart with a warm atmosphere, which makes me cherish every moment of breathing with the motherland and strive to find my own value in this world-renowned event, so that I can proudly say: Beijing 2022 has my little footprints!   

 

 

 

 

Cai Zirong:

 

The winter Olympic Games has come to the end, I found that the time passed too fast. Just when I get used to the work routine, it is time to say goodbye. I would miss the pace of life here, the excitement of meeting new people, experiencing the value of the work and even the food and drink provided at the venue. Our work is already challenging. Although the work process is same and repeated, we need to deal with the reaction of athletes in a flexibly way because we need to contact different athletes each time. Despite the fact that you can not always meet a star athlete, it's exciting to work with all of the world's top athletes. It is my great honor to be here and personally participate in this great event of ice and snow. I hope that the last few days can be a smooth and safe completion of the service work, so as to draw a perfect end to this volunteer service. 

 

 

Chen Liujun

 

I am a volunteer working in the field of anti-doping in the National Speed Skating Oval. I am one of the few volunteers who can enter the competition venue and have close contact with the athletes.

 

Recalling the whole volunteer experience, I still remember the surprise when I saw the beautiful National Speed Skating Oval for the first time, the excitement when I entered the competition venue for the first time and followed the instructor's streamline, and the nervousness when I carried out the task for the first time. But at the end of each task, the athletes' smiles and thanks make me feel that my efforts are worth it!

 

I also had some special moments as a volunteer. I was working at the Speed Skating Oval when Gao Tingyu won the gold medal on February 12. It was a great honor to be at such a historic moment and witness the breakthrough of China's speed skating gold medal from zero to one at the National Speed Skating Oval. Everyone's cheers and foreign coaches' congratulations made me truly feel the pride of being Chinese and the deep sense of identity in this great era! 

 

Finally, I would like to thank the school for providing me with the opportunity to become a volunteer, so that I can have the most unique, beautiful and precious memories of my life in the National Speed Skating Hall!

 

 

 

Kong Xiangyi:

 

I would like to thank all teachers and colleagues for all the hard work they have done. In the anti-doping family, I deeply feel the seriousness and responsibility of everyone. I feel honored and inspired to be in such a group where everyone work together and help each other. I hope that I can complete the anti-doping escort mission with zero mistakes in the coming days!

 

 

 

Kang Haoran:

 

"It is our solemn commitment to the international community to ensure the success of the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games." In this training, I sincerely feel the sense of responsibility as a volunteer of the Winter Olympics, which enables me to have a clearer understanding of the word "responsibility". At the same time, I also learn a lot of knowledge related to the Winter Olympics. The professional training in anti-doping field gives me more understanding of the importance of fair and rigorous in sports events. Finally, during the training period, I also established "war friendship" with other volunteers.   

 

 

Zeng Yizhi:

 

I am an anti-doping control escort working in Ice Ribbon. I am one of the few volunteers who can go to the venue to watch the competition and have close contact with the athletes.

 

I still remember that I was a little nervous on my first day on the job. Although I had been trained for many times, I was worried that I would forget the notification process of doping control and that foreign athletes would not cooperate with my work.

 

It was only when I informed the Kazakh athlete that I realized my fears had been misplaced. Although I was a little perplexed by her inability to understand English at the beginning, she took out her mobile phone and communicated with me through Google Translate and looked at me carefully with her big eyes. Especially at the end of the chaperone, she showed me what she wanted to say, which was translated into English: I have a nice Day. At that moment, I really felt that I was doing the most fulfilling job in the world, and I was the happiest volunteer in the world.

 

Finally, I would like to thank Beijing Normal University and BNUBS for their continuous attention to our cultivation and the cultivation of students' comprehensive quality. Without the volunteer activities such as volunteer teaching in summer vacation and Lei Feng planting flowers, I would not be the courageous and confident volunteer I am today. I am truly honored to volunteer for the Winter Olympics.I have looked at the AD card around my neck at workand reread my responsibilities again and again, which made me feel very proud.I have met the most excellent students, received help from easy-goingprosecutors and communicated with athletes from all over the world. Every minute here is a joy. It is really hard to do the access control work, we need to wear thick biohazard suits, and work long hours with sweat. But every time when I look around, I will see a pair of eyes as determined as mine. We encouraged and supported each other, endured hardships and stayed up overnight, witnessed the creation of a new record. I have personally handed the champion the gifts prepared in the station, and watched the snow falling under the Ice Ribbon at 1:00 in the morning, so that the cry of the Chinese team winning the championship could be heard throughout the stadium, reaching the sky.   

 

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to DOP for giving me the opportunities to meet such excellent friends, as well as to have the precious memories of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, which will be my eternal treasure that will never be erased from my life.

It is my great honor to participate in the anti-doping work of the National Speed Skating Oval during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, and to personally participate in this grand Olympic event as an escort at the doping control station.During this period, I have gained an in-depth understanding of doping control and realized the importance of escort in doping control in practice.  During my work, my colleagues and I have become good friends, and I have also been lucky enough to witness many exciting moments of speed skating in the Winter Olympics. This experience will be a very precious memory in my life. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Volunteers in Media Operation

Feng Zhiying:

 

During my work in the field of media operations at the National Speed Skating Oval, I have had the privilege of meeting and serving journalists from all over the world. As the service team of the Whole Olympic Games, although I did not have close contact with athletes and audiences, I also deeply felt the serious attitude of friends from all nations and countries around the world towards work and the yearning for the Olympic spirit. Even though we don't speak the same language, we all communicate with each other in a friendly and loving manner. I feel that when we communicate with the world with an open mind, we will make progress towards the common goal of humanity. We all need love, we all have love and only when we communicate with each other with love we can move toward to the future together! An event and a service may eventually come to an end, but the understanding of the world and the community with a shared future for mankind that this experience has given me will never come to an end. I think this experience will inspire me to pass on the Olympic spirit to more people, to pass on the power of win-win cooperation!  

 

 

 

Fu Ting:

 

The Olympic Games is coming to an end, so is my volunteer journey. This is the third time I come to the National Speed Skating Oval and I still hold great enthusiasm of volunteer service for the Winter Olympics though time has flied by. As usual,I still don’t have the opportunity to see the games personally in the stadium and have to do the work of data collection, vehicle and meal arrangements. But, when I see that every volunteer could shine on their own posts without any worries under our guarantee, I once again feel the significance of my work. I also hope that every volunteer can gain growth from this experience, and we can move forward together into the future!

 

 

Zhu Yuzi:

 

As "volunteers for volunteers", we are mainly responsible for the daily security work of volunteers, such as transportation arrangement, distribution of supplies, and providing places for volunteers to rest and entertainment. Although I have been working all day since I started my post on January 23, being in company with Excel and the material box every day, and having no chance to enter FOP, every time when I see the "Roger, all right" in the contact group, hear the volunteers coming to collect supplies and say, "Look at this, it’s beautiful" and feel the cheerful atmosphere of the foosball game in the volunteer home, I would sincerely feel that I have made my contribution for the smooth operation of the Winter Olympics. This is my first Chinese New Year without the company of my family, and also the longest time away from home. Perhaps when I return to the familiar city the chill of moisture has faded, but I believe that whenever and wherever I go, I will remember seeing the most sincere and passionate snowflakes at the winter of 2022. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Volunteers in Catering

Zhang Kexin:

 

As the saying goes, "Food is the most important thing for people". Catering is an important part of logistics for the Winter Olympics, from the basic supply of three meals to the distribution of drinking water and the coordination of food delivery inside and outside the Olympic Games, we volunteers need to do our work. It also means we work longer hours, coming to work in the morning glow and coming home in the moonlight. Although catering work is not directly related to the competitions, ensuring the "basic needs" of all staff has also formed a joint contribution to the Winter Olympics. The best part of my volunteer day is the kindness and satisfaction I receive when I am on duty at the front and back doors of the canteen.   

 

In 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, my hometown Qingdao held the Olympic sailing race andthat’s when I deeply felt the charm of the Olympic Games. The volunteer work for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games gave me the opportunity to grow together with the Olympic, which I had dreamed about since I was a child. My feelings and responsibilities for this job are the motivation for my continuous efforts and dedication. I hope I can be a "burning snowflake", warm the "ice ribbon" with enthusiasm and love. 

 

 

 

 

Volunteers in Epidemic Prevention and Control

Wei Min:

 

We are the volunteers who wake up the earliest to check the temperature of the staff and stay until the last moment of the operation of the venue and return at the latest. This is the work of volunteers in serveing the epidemic prevention work of the National Speed Skating Oval. We are responsible for temperature verification, nucleic acid verification and monitoring data uploading. We perform our task meticulously even when we wake up early and have to work long time in a day. As the league branch secretary in the business field, I also be responsible for overall scheduling and bus organization. With our efforts, we will build the "Ice Ribbon" epidemic prevention barrier to ensure safety of the ice and snow festival!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Volunteers in Event Services

Wang Yinglu:

 

There’s warm in winter and light in the night. As the volunteers of the ticket checking team of the event service, we always greet the audience before the game at the earliest, and see them off after the game at the latest. Every time they enter the game, we offer our warm welcome, and every time they leave the game, we offer our warm escort. Although we could not witness the birth of one Olympic record after another in the stands and miss the moments of winning gold medals one after another, we could always feel the enthusiasm of The Olympics from the excited cheers and excited faces of the audience outside in the cold wind. We are deeply touched by the warm words audience give for our meticulous verification and escort, which is exactly the value of being a volunteer. Although the Winter Olympic Games is coming to an end, I believe that every burning snowflake will become a dream and illuminate the world.    

 

 

Wang Kerui

 

I am very glad to participate in the preparations for this Winter Olympic Games as a volunteer! The Ice Ribbon deserves to be called the "fastest ice" in the world. Since the start of the competition, there have been many good news, and athletes from various countries have broken the world record one after another. As a volunteer in the traffic control group, I am responsible for guarding the closed-loop compartments to prevent the audience from entering and leaving every day. Although we could not witness the exciting competition with our own eyes, we can always feel the warm atmosphere inside the stadium. As a member of the event service field, it is my duty to do my job well and serve and guide the audience. Over the past ten days, I sincerely feel the prosperity of the motherland, the persistence and dedication of the athletes, and the dedication of the venue staff. I am very lucky to be part of this and hope we can work together to the future in 2022!
