On the afternoon of November 4th, 2020, BNUNS held this year's "Face-to-face with the Dean" Symposium for 2020 Freshman in conference room 9406. President Qi Yudong, Associate Secretary Ge Yuliang, Associate President Zhang Pingdan, Associate President CAI Hongbo, and Teacher Chang Xinyang, Han Lili and Lan Rujia from the Party Committee of the College, as well as student representatives from all majors of 2020 participated in the meeting. Associate Secretary Ge Yuliang presided over the meeting.

First of all, Professor Ge Yuliang explained that the purpose of this symposium was to know more about the students and improve the work of BNUBS. Through the communication between leaders and teachers with freshmen representatives, they hope to understand the students’ difficulties, and help students to adapt to the university life as soon as possible. And students were encouraged to speak freely.

During the meeting, students expressed their feelings on issues like academic counseling, life guarantee, campus activities, information collection and time arrangement since the admission. Teachers offered advices on their difficulties. In terms of academic studies, the conference communicated with students on professional learning, course selection, career planning, comprehensive testing, freshmen tutors and other issues. In terms of life guarantee, students reported problems in dormitory, canteen, heating and other aspects, and the teachers introduced the overall arrangement of the school and the way of rights protection. In terms of campus activities, the meeting discussed the development and changes of campus activities under the epidemic. In terms of information collection, teachers introduced the way of using the school website, Official Accounts and bulletin boards to respond to students' confusion. In terms of time management, teachers provided guidance on issues such as time management and planning.

At the end of the meeting, Dean Qi Yudong made a concluding speech, pointing out that the " Face to face with the Dean" symposium would conduct on-site communication on all aspects of freshmen's study and life, and provide solutions or preplans. For the problems that could not be answered on the spot, a timetable would be given. Besides, students are encouraged to communicate and reflect their problems through various channels, so that the school can solve problems if the policy allows, and continuously improve the satisfaction of the school's management.
