On September 25th, 2020, BNUBS officially launched the “Cutting-edge Digital Economy and Management” lecture series. Professor Qi Yudong, Dean of BNUBS, as the first guest speaker, delivered a speech on the topic of "Enterprise Management Reform in the Digital Economy".

——Speaker’s Opinion——

As the keynote speaker, Professor Qi Yudong shared wonderful academic opinions to the teachers and students. He gave an incisive analysis of the current form and trend of the digital economy. “We are in a period of great change not seen in a century,” he said, “The great change in the economic field is the great change in the digital economy.” At present, the form of digital economy was colorful and innovative. As a new economy, digital economy was different from traditional economy in terms of technical basis, technical characteristics, organizational structure and industrial organization characteristics. The digital economy was rewriting and reconstructing the map of the world economy, and it had subversive role and alternative status to the traditional economy, which could be described as “ten years east to the river, ten years in the west”.

Professor Qi Yudong analyzed the enterprise management innovation in the digital economy era from five aspects. First of all, from the perspective of corporate strategy, he believed that doing the right things instead of doing things in the right way was an important goal of an enterprise, and in the era of digital economy, the digital transformation and intelligent upgrading of an enterprise was the right thing to do at present. Secondly, by using the equity structure of Alibaba and Jingdong, he introduced the current limited partnership and dual-share structure of Internet companies. Thirdly, the current governance mechanism of digital enterprises was displaying many new characteristics, including top executives becoming shareholders, users becoming employees, employees becoming makers and groups forming circles. Fourthly, in terms of competition, the competition of digital economy was manifested as the substitution competition under the subversive innovation. Under the alternative competition, the boundary between traditional industries became fuzzy, and many concepts such as industry, enterprise and product needed to be redefined. Digital enterprises were elaborately constructing their own ecospheres, and the competition among enterprises evolved into the competition between ecospheres, which became the highest form of competition among enterprises, and the competition and cooperation also became the highest goal pursued by enterprises. The competition between ecospheres became the highest form of enterprise competition. Fifthly, in terms of internal management innovation of enterprises, organizational structure tended to be networking and flat, marketing mode tended to be precise and refined, production mode tended to be modular and flexible, product design tended to be of different versions and iterative, R&D mode tended to be open and open-sourced, and employment mode tended to be diversified and flexible.
