To further implement the important indicator spirit of President Xi Jinping to resolute prevent and control the COVID-19, conscientiously implement the epidemic prevention and control work deployment of Party Central Committee, the Ministry of Education and BNU, consolidate and deepen the theme education achievement­-- don't forget the beginner's mind, keep in mind that the mission, improve the quality of education during the epidemic, give full play to the role of party members of teachers in the prevention and control of the epidemic through academic research, according to the current actual situation，the teaching staff party branches of BNUBS held an online thematic organization meeting from March 9 to 13, 2020.

The international economics branch of teaching staff and the administrative branch of teaching staff held a discussion on the theme-- novel coronavirus pneumonia, social and economic development and improvement of national governance capacity. The teacher party members, led by the secretary of their branch, learnt stick to and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics to promote the modernization of management system and ability, and the major decision spirit of prevention and control of COVID-19 and the deployment instructions of the Central Party Committee--Speech at the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee to study and respond to COVID-19，Speech at the meeting of overall propulsion COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control and the work plan for economic and social development. The former branch analyzed the problems in the governance system and governance capacity of local governments reflected by the early out-of-control of the epidemic, the reasons for the huge difference in the development trend of the epidemic at home and abroad, and expounded the impact of the epidemic on China's economic growth, poverty alleviation and employment of vulnerable groups. The later branch analyzed the impact of the epidemic on the development of different industries in China, the important role of grass-roots managers, party members and students, and women who took part in public governance in the prevention and control of the epidemic in combination with specific cases.

The economics branch of teaching staff，the business administration branch of teaching staff and the accounting branch of teaching staff held a discussion on the theme of problems and improvement strategies in teaching and education during novel coronavirus pneumonia. Under the condition of the outbreak causes students cannot back to school on time, the teacher party members respond to the call of the Ministry of Education and BNU-- classes suspended but study kept, take part in the teaching training, fully prepared to teaching, choose the Changjiang· RainClassroom, ZOOM tools for online teaching platform and Tencent conferences, etc. according to the requirements of the course, students' characteristics and their own actual situation. Teachers generally believe that online teaching can be regarded as an effective form of teaching in this special period, which overcomes the time and space barriers of teaching, stimulates students' enthusiasm for interaction, and helps students to consolidate and review after class. However, according to the actual experience, some teachers put forward the problems in online teaching and the improvement strategies. For example, some teachers suggested that the combination of video recording and WeChat group online discussion could be adopted in order to solve the problem of time difference in international students' courses and the phenomenon of frequent lag in live video broadcasting. Some put forward that since the way to test is a difficult problem, they can try to use a limited time open-book test and other forms. Some suggested that online teaching might not be conducive to effective learning for students from developing countries with poor electricity and network conditions, students from poor and backward areas in China, and students from poor families.

Through this meeting, the teacher party members have further understood the various measures taken by our country and the BNU during the current epidemic prevention and control period. They have expressed their willingness to start from themselves, implement various policies and measures, and make contributions to the epidemic prevention and control as well as education, teaching and scientific research.
