On January 4th, Qi Yudong, dean of BNUBS, attended Allied Social Science Association Annual Meeting (ASSA Annual Meeting) 2020 and recruited faculty in San Diego, USA. The deputy party secretary Ge Yuliang, associate dean Cai Hongbo, chair of Economics Department Yang Juan, associate director of Economics Department Xu Minbo, director of the Alumni Office Li Ani accompanied the group.

 

 

Job Interview at ASSA Annual Meeting

 

Through careful preparations, the recruitment has received more than 200 job applications from around the world since it was launched in early November. After two rounds of selection, 18 interviewee were finally confirmed. They are from George Washington University, University of Maryland, State University of New York at Stony Brook, Columbia University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, Pennsylvania State University, London School of Economics, Brown University, National University of Singapore, Lowa State University, University of Connecticut, Lancaster University and other world-famous universities. On the principles of equality, fairness and openness, the interview panel comprehensively examined the candidates' educational background, scientific research capacity, teaching experience and the matching rate with the disciplinary development of BNUBS, and successfully completed the interviews.

 

On January 3rd, Dean Qi and his delegation were invited to visit the University of California, Riverside (UCR) in the United States. They were given a warm reception by Jun Wang, assistant president of UCR in charge of strategic development and international enrollment, Professor Anil Deolalikar, former dean of UCR School of Business and dean of School of Public Policy, and Steve Chen, director of International Affairs of UCR School of Business.

 

 

Visiting UCR Campus

 

Assistant President Jun Wang personally introduced the history and the dominant disciplines of UCR, and the University of California System. In particular, UCR has made remarkable achievements in adhering to the concept and policy of diverse talent cultivation. Director Steve Chen gave a detailed introduction to the international exchange and cooperation programs of School of Business, focusing on the “1+1+1” Bachelor and Master Program, “3+1+X” Double Master Degree Program, Master of Business Preparation Program (MBPP) and ABLE Short-term programs. Dean Deolalikar kindly reviewed the scene of his visit to Beijing Normal University last year and proposed the preliminary plan for the next Public Policy Training Program with BNUBS. Dean Qi expressed thanks for the UCR's warm reception, and simply introduced the history of BNUBS and fruitful results of talent cultivation and scientific research in recent years. In particular, he pointed out that internationalization has been the key word of each work of BNUBS, and he expected to benefit the common development of both sides by the cooperation brought by the reciprocal visits.

Allied Social Science Association Annual Meeting, which is comprised of the American Financial Association (AFA), the American Economic Association (AEA), Econometrics Association (ES) and other branches, is one of the world's largest social science academic conference.
