Note: The J.F.Oberlin University was established by Yasuzo Shimizu (1891-1988) in 1921 in Beijing. After Japan's defeat, Mr. Yasuzo Shimizu returned to Tokyo in 1946 and founded a primary school under the name Obirin Gakuen. "Obirin" means "cherry tree" and "beauty" in Japanese. The name also honors French educator Jean-Frederic Oberlin, whose educational philosophy influenced Mr. Yasuzo Shimizu deeply. In honor of Mr. Oberlin, the school renamed the entire education group as J.F. Oberlin university and its affiliated schools in 2006. At present, J.F.Oberlin University has developed into a multidisciplinary comprehensive university with a total of more than 9000 students. There are six research directions in the graduate school of the university including operation management, Asian business administration MBA (taught in Chinese), cultural and creative industries management MBA, entrepreneurial MBA, management practice (corporate culture) MBA, and efficient management.
