On the occasion of the grand celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, on 22nd October, 2019, BNUBS and Shanxi economic publishing house jointly hosted the “Forum on economic development of the 70th anniversary of new China and press conference of 70 years of China’s economy”. The press conference of the new book 70 years of China’s economy was hosted by Cui Xuegang. Dean Qi pointed out that the publication of this book conforms to the needs of the times and is conducive to a comprehensive review of the historical process of China's economic development in the past 70 years.

Wang Haibo，author of this book，expressed his delight towards the economic development achievement since the foundation of the People's Republic of China, introduced the innovation of the frame construction and the methodology of writing style of this book. This book integrates historical materialism and economic history research, historiography norm and logic layout method, economic development and economic change.

The second agenda " Forum on economic development of the 70th anniversary of new China " was presided over by Yang Juan, head of the department of economics of BNU.

Zhang Zhuoyuan, a famous economist, first emphasized the importance of 70 years of China’s economy in the economic history in China, and pointed out that the accuracy of statistics in the process of the 70th anniversary and the evaluation of socialist transformation in history were two issues worth discussing. Deng Ronglin believed that enterprise reform is the carrier of economic development, and it is necessary to deepen the reform of state-owned enterprises and deal with the relationship among consumers, enterprises and governments in the market economic system. Jin Bei put forward that the great practice of reform and opening-up is the process of thought convergence. Wu Li affirmed Mr. Wang's achievements and emphasized the importance of the study of economic history. Li Xiaoxi expounded the contribution of the theory and practice of opening-up policy to the economic development in the past 70 years. Starting from his own major, Dong Zhikai reviewed Mr. Wang's achievements in economic history and summarized some common theoretical guidelines for the study of economic history. Ping xinqiao believed that the great achievement in the past 70 years is largely due to the right choice of micro-mechanism. Zhang Wenkui pointed out that over the past 70 years, capital accumulation, demographic dividend and opening-up policy world brought China rapid economic growth, but in the next 30 years, the effect of these factors will be weakened, and it is very important to reexplore the source of economic development. Tang Renwu summarized the achievements of the past 70 years, compared the distinction between the first 30 years and the second 40 years, and discussed the possibility of future development. Xu Hongcai believed that the major risks facing China in the next three years will be the precipitous decline in GDP growth, the long-term and complicated game between China and the United States, and the gradual aging of the population. We should focus on the cyclical and structural contradictions and be more aware of risks and responsibilities. Mr. Zhou Minliang summarized the research methods and perspectives of 70 years of Chinese economy and put forward the problems faced by the current industrial development and the development direction of the next step.

 Finally, Qi Yudong made a summary speech. He expressed his admiration for Mr. Wang Haibo’s tireless writing, pointed out that the new China had made remarkable economic achievements in seventy years, but also were faced with the problems in issues such as the per capita level, quality, structure, innovation, fair. There were still many institutional factors hampering economic development and there was great potential for economic development, and reform, opening up and innovation are still a long way off. When we look for the source of economic growth in the next step, we must pay attention to the important role of digital economy and attach great importance to the field of digital economy.

The 70 years of the People's Republic of China were 70 years that created great miracles and changed the future and destiny of the Chinese nation. The 70 years of the new China were from independence to prosperity, rejuvenation of the nation and happiness of the people. Over the past 70 years, in the face of international vicissitudes, China has achieved economic transformation and sustained and sound economic development. This meeting summarized the past, looked into the future, celebrated the 70th anniversary of the founding of new China in a unique way and made due contributions to the study of economics with Chinese characteristics.
