Second NeuroAccounting & NeuroManagement Symposium Held by Our School

The Second NeuroAccounting & NeuroManagement Symposium was held by our School on Nov 24-25, 2018, aiming at promoting the research of neuro-accounting and neuro-management and related theoretical and research innovations. This symposium was jointly held by our department——School of Economics and Business Administration of the Beijing Normal University and the School of Management of Xiamen University. More than 100 representatives from the Erasmus University in the Netherlands, University of Massachusetts, Xiamen University, Fudan University, University of Science and Technology of China, Nankai University as well as other universities in China attended the academic conference.

 

 

Cui Xuegang, deputy director of the School kicked off the opening ceremony and gave a keynote speech on the morning of Nov 24. Sun Zhijun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of our School, addressed the audience with his views on the achievements and new progress that we have made in inter-discipline construction. Jiao Hao, director of the overseas scientific research office of our university, introduced the building of the “Double First-Rate” university and the strategies that our university imposed to encourage inter-discipline construction. Tian Zhixin, vice secretary general of the Accounting Society of China and Chen Yasheng, professor from the Xiamen University’s School of Management also extended their congratulations and gratitude towards the effort made by our department.

On the morning of Nov 24, Professor Chen Yasheng delivered a speech on neuro-accounting and accounting artificial intelligence algorithm. He demonstrated how accounting is combined with artificial intelligence with large amounts of cases and outlined the future development of neuro-accounting. Frank Hartmann, professor of the Erasmus University made a speech on the theme “Facing the Empirical and Theoretical Challenges of Neuroaccounting”. He pointed out the empirical and theoretical challenges that we faced now in neuroaccounting research as well as the possible ways or methods to resolve them based on his own research and experiences. Li Jianbiao, professor of the Nankai University shared his latest thesis achievement on “Using Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation to Test the Effect of Self-Control on Investor Behavior”, that is, using electronic stimulation to manipulate investors’ self-control and thereby to test the impact of self-control on investors.

On the afternoon of the same day, a total of 16 thesis papers were reported on the branch seminars. Scholars and experts had a heated discussion on the two research areas of “NeuroAccounting Research” and “NeuroMarketing and NeuroManagement Research”.

On the morning of Nov 25, Zhang Xiaochu, professor of the University of Science and Technology of China hosted the forum. Professors from the Fudan University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Beijing Normal University, etc. shared their research experiences, findings and achievements on the related fields with large amounts of case demonstrations.

Subsequently, a learned periodical forum was held. Editors, editors in chief, directors with some renowned periodicals presented their opinions and answered the questions raised by the representatives. They also introduces the characteristics, reviewing standards, policy orientations and concerned areas of their periodicals and extended their sustained concern and support to the research on neuroaccounting and neuromanagement.

In the end, Cui Xuegang made a conclusion of the two-day symposium and expressed his sincere gratitude towards all the representatives for their coming and support.
