On the afternoon of June 28, 2018, after the active preparation and efforts, the demonstration conference of BNUBS’s Full-English “Doctor of International Development” (DID) Program was successfully held in the 1610 conference room of the main building. The participants of the conference included: Director Cheng Hongguang and Han Ruilian from International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Guo Haiyan, Deputy Director of the Degree Office of Graduate School, Zhang Yujing, from Cultivation Office of Graduate School, Li Bin, Deputy Dean of the School of Law, Tu Qin, Director of the Academic Committee of the Institute of Economics and Resource Management, Hu Xiaojiang and Zhu Lei, from the School of Social Development and Public Policy (SSDPP) of BNU, Zhang Yanqun, representative of the WEC project teachers and member of the Institute of Quantitative and Technical Economics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Sun Zhijun, Party Secretary of BNUBS, Zhang Pingdan, Deputy Dean of BNUBS, Cai Hongbo, assistant to the Dean of BNUBS, Guo Ji, representative of the teachers of WEC project, Xie Jia, Deputy Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation (OIEC), and Li Liya, project director of OIEC.

At the beginning of the meeting, Party Secretary Sun Zhijun expressed his welcome to the delegation on behalf of BNUBS and gratitude to the International Department, the Graduate School and other Departments for their guidance and support of the internationalization of BNUBS, especially the cultivation of international students. Subsequently, Cai Hongbo introduced the general situation of the international exchange and cooperation development of BNUBS, the overall vision and preliminary plan of the WEC project and the English doctor program. The leaders and teachers attending the conference, starting from the working experience of their own departments and schools, fully discussed the difficulties and challenges that may exist in the quality of students, classroom teaching, cultivation programs, dissertations, joint training, scholarships, etc. , and made a number of feasible suggestions.

Finally, summing up the conference, Party Secretary Sun Zhijun once again thanked everyone for taking the time to participate in the demonstration conference and pointed out that the problems and suggestions put forward should be carefully organized and analyzed. He hoped that with the joint efforts of everyone, the DID English program would be more perfect with clearer development path, and and all aspects would be fully prepared before the program’s launched to welcome the first batch of students in the fall of 2019.
