Time :2018-03-27

The year 2017 can be called “the first year of artificial intelligence”. With the rapid development of technologies such as the Internet, artificial intelligence, and big data, as well as the continuous improvement of cognitive learning theory, the application of robots in the field of education and labor market also shows unparalleled value and influence. Research on artificial intelligence, education, and the labor market has also become a mission entrusted by the era.

Under this background, the seminar of “Artificial Intelligence, Education and Labor Market: Opportunities and Challenges”, which was held by the Labor Market Research Center of BNU, and co-organized by Education Robot Industry Development Research Center of BNUBS and Chi Tong time (Xiamen) Technology Co., Ltd was held in Beijing on December 23, 2017. The participants included: Wu Gang, Director of Department of Management Science of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Lin Shaowei, Deputy Director of China Technology Supply and Demand Online of Ministry of Education (MOE) and President of University Science and Technology Industrialization Promotion Center Co., Ltd., Lai Desheng, Dean of BNUBS, Director of Labor Market Research Center and Director of the Education Robot Industry Development Research Center, Guo Changchen, founder and CEO of Chi Tong time (Xiamen) Technology Co., Ltd, and Director of the “Blue Fire Project” Educational Robot Research Institute of MOE, Han Zhangang, Associate Dean and of Systems Science School of BNU and Director of Analytical and Integration Laboratory, Guo Rong, Academician and Research Fellow and researcher of China Science and Technology Development Strategy Research Institute, Ministry of Science and Technology, Zhang Jiang, Professor of School of System Science of BNU and founder of Swarm Agents Club and Swarm AI, Yue Changjun, Assistant Dean and Professor of School of Education of Peking University, Sun Baicai, Vice President of Qingdao Institute of Education, Qingdao University and Taishan scholar, Zheng Qinhua, Director of Distance Education Center of BNU, Gao Wenshu, Researcher at the Institute of Population and Labor Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Ren Yanfeng, co-founder of Kanzhun.com and president of BOSS Zhipin, Li Chang’an, Professor of School of Public Administration, University of International Business and Economics and Deputy Director of the Labor Market Research Center of BNU, Wei Jianwen, Professor of Social Management Institute/ School of Social Science of BNU, Dong Chunyu, Professor of Philosophy School of BNU and other leaders and experts.     The seminar released two reports: the first report was the “Global Education Robot Industry Development Report (2017)” organized and written by the Educational Robotics Industry Development Research Center of BNUBS; the second report was “Reform in Artificial Intelligence and Labor Market: Opportunities and Challenges” jointly organized and written by the BNU Research Center of Labor Market and the Educational Robot Industry Development Research Center of BNUBS.

Professor Lai Desheng, who presided over the two reports, believes that due to the dual catalysis of national policies and educational strategies, coupled with rigid market demands and technological development support, the educational robot industry will face enormous opportunities and market excavation potential, becoming the new blue ocean. At the same time, technological advances centering on artificial intelligence and digitization will continue to push the Chinese labor market towards the direction of technological preference. So some tasks that originally required manpower have become automated tasks. In addition, in the future, more skillful work such as technical analysis will be needed, and new work forms will also exert different degrees of influence on labor relations and labor market structure. Based on this, the two reports put forward suggestions on promoting the development of the education robot industry, and the collaborative development of education and labor market.
