On October 28th, 2017, the Seminar themed with “The Next 10 Years – BNU MBA Education Development Strategy” held by BNUBS was successfully completed. In 2007, normal universities in China started to offer the MBA project. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the MBA project of BNUBS. The conference focused on the current situation and trend of MBA education, the experience and characteristics of the BNU MBA project in the past ten years, and the development and cooperation in the next ten years. Vice chairman and leadership of the MBA Education Supervisory Committee, Dean of Business Schools from Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, Central China Normal University, Northeast Normal University, Shaanxi Normal University, Southwestern University and South China Normal University attended the meeting.

The first phase of the conference was presided over by Mr. Sun Zhijun, Secretary of the Party committee of BNUBS.

Prof. Lai Desheng, Dean of BNUBS, delivered the first opening speech. Prof. Lai pointed out that universities all have their own characteristics and advantages. He hoped that through the seminar of development strategy, all parties can gain advice on how to run MBA projects in normal universities, contribute wisdom, broaden horizons, and promote the development of each school.

     Professor Yi Zhihong, Deputy director of the National MBA Education Supervisory Committee, former vice president of Renmin University of China, made a speech themed with “Respecting the Rule of Education and Pursuing Excellence----Some Thoughts on the Education of Business”. Under the background of globalization and digitization, challenges and opportunities faced by MBA education in Chinese business schools were analysed. He noted that the Dean of business schools should understand the development trend of global MBA education, the problem that Chinese MBA faces, meanwhile, give full play to the leadership and focus on management strategy. At last, Prof. Wang Ping, Director of the National MBA Education Supervisory Committee affirmed the outcome of BNU MBA project in the past. She pointed out the existing problems of MBA education, emphasized the MBA project standard, and the importance of rigorous education.

The second keynote speech of the conference was presided over by Vice-president Zhang Pingdan. Dean of BNUBS, Prof. Lai Desheng, Dean of ECNU Business School, Prof. Feng Xuegang, Dean of CCNU Business School, Prof. Deng Hongqian, Dean of Northeast Normal University Prof. Lv Kangyin, Dean of Shaanxi Normal University International Business School, Prof. Lei Hongzhen, Dean of South China Normal University School of Management, Prof. Peng Biyu, introduced their school status, MBA project, characteristics and positioning, problems and challenges, the detailed introductions and discussions on the future development. Prof. Yi commented on the president’s speech. She stressed that the seminar was very timely and fruitful, and expected to further enhance communication, strengthen learning and ability in MBA project construction, further unify the discipline advantages and school characteristic, and uplift them to a higher level.

At the meeting, Deans of the seven business schools jointly advocated the establishment of “An Exchange Platform of Business Schools among Normal Universities”, to facilitate resource sharing and mutual support, promote the development of management disciplines, especially the common development of the MBA project.

Finally, Dean Lai Desheng expressed thanks to all the guests. He said that he believe MBA Programs in normal universities will witness fruitful opportunities and potentials. He hopes all business schools can make progress in the new period through common development.
