The article Exchange Rate, Product Quality and Export Price written by Prof. Dai Mi, Prof. Xu Jianwei from BNUBS and Prof. Wang Yaqi from CUFE, published on World Economy, was awarded “2015 International Finance Top 10 Chinese articles” by the Yearbook of World Economy.

Based on 2000-2006 Chinese customs export trade data of highly refined products, the article discusses the export price and exchange rate pass-through of China under the influence of RMB’s exchange rate. Drawn from the conclusion, Chinese product price on average are barely affected by exchange rate pass-through, whereas foreign countries are affected in all aspects with differences shown in the elasticity of exchange rate between high-income countries and low-income countries. The article further demonstrates that product quality is associated with exchange rate pass-through, which offers us a new prospective compared to the previous articles.
